There are three examinations, which must be
undertaken to be qualified as a driving instructor.
Part 1: The Theory Test
This consists of 100 multiple choice questions and a Hazard Perception
test which is computer operated. We supply all the material needed for
this test. Please see price
list.
Part 2: Driving Ability Test
This is the next step, it is an advanced driving test which is of a
higher standard than the learner driver test. It lasts for 60minutes
and only 6 minor faults are allowed. Most trainees have at least 12
hours of training prior to the examination to ensure that they are
fully equipped. The DSA allows only three attempts at the exam.
Trainees are required to use their own cars where
possible, for this training.
Part 3: Instructional Ability Test
This test measures your ability to give effective instruction and it is
the most challenging of the three tests. You will be required to obtain
at least 40 hours of training before commencing this exam.
The test is in two parts lasting 30 minutes each
and both parts must be passed successfully. You will be asked to
demonstrate your knowledge and ability by giving practical driving
instruction to the examiner who will take on the role of a pupil.
